This week has certainly been an exciting week for music fans everywhere from Ed Sheeran announcing a Croke Park gig, Counting Crows tickets going on sale to Blur announcing the release of a new album, we thought the week couldn’t get much better.
Then FooFighters were announced as headliners for Glastonbury and we were even happier – all in a lovely musical bubble getting ready for the weekend.
Then suddenly, the most thrilling and extremely nostalgic news of all came. Ash – yes, as in Ash who gave us Oh Yeah! and Girl From Mars – have this week announced that they are releasing a new single.
The Irish rockers also revealed that they will be performing two intimate shows – one in Dublin and one in Belfast in the coming months.

The single, entitled Cocoon, is the first off the band’s upcoming album Kablammo!, which will be the band’s first album since 2007’s Twilight of The Innocents.
“It’s Ash at their frenetic best: a wall of guitars and a shot of adrenaline with a sweet melodic chaser,” said Rick McMurray when asked to describe Cocoon.
“One of the earliest songs written for the forthcoming albm, you can hear how excited the three of us are to be back in the same room.
“Having this much fun crammed into two and a half minutes is probably illegal.”
