Netflix reveal new details about Black Mirror’s choose your own adventure episode

Unreal.

Netflix has released a photo teaser of the upcoming Black Mirror special that is set to drop onto streaming services on the 28th of December.

Titled ‘Bandersnatch’, you can find its page already set up on the streaming service, complete with the caption: ‘Be right back.’

The special episode is rumoured to clock in at around 1 hour and 30 minutes, matching the feature length runtime of White Christmas, the Christmas special episode starring Jon Hamm and Rafe Spall that aired in 2014.

Perhaps most exciting new bit of info is the inclusion of People Just Do Nothing’s breakout star Asim Chaudry, known for his now ubiquitous alter-ego Chabuddy G.

The other two actors in the teaser shot are Fionn Whitehead – who you will recognise as the star of Christopher Nolan’s World War II drama Dunkirk – and Will Poulter, who you will probably also recognise but have absolutely no clue where from.

(The Revanant or maybe that terrible third Chronicles of Narnia film. Either way don’t feel bad. He does have a BAFTA Rising Star award, though.)

Anyway, the other intriguing nugget of info is the title of the episode itself, named after a 1984 video game that was never released.

A screenshot of the Korean Media Rating Board appears to confirm that the episode will be the long-awaited ‘choose your own adventure’ instalment of the dystopian series, allowing viewers to interact with the story using their remotes.

Reddit user sm00yes translated the synopsis listed there:

“A young programmer makes a fantasy novel into a game. Soon, reality and virtual world are mixed and start to create confusion”.

If you weren’t excited for this beforehand, you should be now.
