Spice Girls reportedly in talks for Spice World sequel
Can you imagine?
I was just the right age in the 90s for Spice Mania.
I can still remember going to see the Spice World movie in the cinemas and I bought it on video the minute I could.
Since the Spice Girls reunion 2019 there has been a lot of talk about whether or not we'll get another one once the pandemic is over, but the truth is we could be getting something even better.
With the 1997 Spice Girls film Spice World coming up to its 25th anniversary the band mates have been in talks about a sequel.
Yes, you read that right, once cinemas are back open we could have Spice World 2.0 on the big screen.
My platform runners are already calling to me from the wardrobe.
According to sources, Geri is said to be leading the project with Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B also on board;
"The girls have been talking about how to mark the film's anniversary and are actively considering making a tongue-in-cheek sequel.
They have approached a screenwriter who is considering working on the project and making tentative steps forward."
While Victoria has yet to be confirmed (maybe she'll pop in for a cameo if she doesn't want to commit to being in the main cast) it does seem like the rest of the Spice Girls are determined to make a sequel to the cult classic movie.
With Hocus Pocus 2 set to start filming this summer, another Sister Act movie soon to be made and now a Spice World sequel potentially in the works, it really is going to feel like the 90s all over again.
Given that we've missed out on most of the last year and a half, we all need a good cheesy film fest when we can get back in those cinema seats again, and honestly I can't think of a better cheesy film than Spice World 2.
