Think the cast of Love Island earn a lot for filming in the villa? Well think again

It's a lot less than we imagined...

Love Island is returning to our screens this Monday and it is safe to say we are BUZZING.

The ITV series will once again follow a bunch of singles hoping to find the one and ultimately win a bucket load of cash. And it appears their hope to win cash is backed by the fact that the contestants get paid practically nothing for their time filming in the villa.

Yep, it was revealed by The Sun Online that the stars will receive approximately £200 a week which breaks down at around £2.80 an hour for their around the clock filming.

A source spoke to the publication saying:

“All the islanders are getting £200 a week to be on the show. If you break it down to how many hours they’re filming every day it’s absolutely nothing! But they know the end goal is mega-money and fame.

“They’re all prepared to take the hit now because this time next year they could be rolling in it!”

And this is true, many of last years contestants have seen their earnings skyrocket with 10 members of last years cast charging over €2,500 per advertising Instagram post as well as clothing, appearance and brand ambassador deals.

And yesterday, the 10 singles ready to fly to Majorca were revealed and the chances of them leaving with the winning lump sum or a handful of contracts once they exit is high if they make the right impression.

We are already excited to see who will become our on screen fave and who will take the crown from Kem and Amber. The countdown is on.
