American scientists have established that women who breastfeed are less likely to develop certain types of breast cancer.
According to IrishHealth.com, mums who breastfeed their children are less likely to develop oestrogen-receptor negative and progesterone-receptor negative, cancers which usually affect younger women.
Scientists from the American Association for Cancer Research analysed the medical data of over 4,000 women with breast cancer and almost 3,000 without the disease.

Breastfeeding reduces a woman's risk of cancer a new study has revealed
A spokesperson from Columbia University said: "Women who had children but did not breastfeed had about 1.5 times the risk for these cancers.
“If women breastfed their children, there was no increased risk for them.
“This is particularly important as breastfeeding is a modifiable factor that can be promoted and supported through health policy.”
The findings were published at a conference of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).
