Have you got €5 to spare?
That’s the question being asked by The Jack and Jill Foundation, who urgently need to make up a €400,000 shortfall in funds required to run the service between now and the end of the year.
The charity has been hit hard between the effects of the recession, a downturn in the mobile phone recycling market and a reduction in its HSE grant.
Less than twenty per cent of the €2.7 million needed to operate the service annually comes from the State, the remainder is raised solely through fundraising.
You may have already noticed the ‘Bringing Home’ campaign, asking people to donate €5 and featuring personal stories from many people linked to the charity, including Brigid Flangan from Louth, seen in the video above speaking about her three-year-old son Richard who requires 24-hours-a-day care.
To donate €5, simply text 'We Care' to 57034.
