A Colombian charity has stepped in to try and control the health of two babies - who have a combined weight of six and a half stone.
Santiago Fandiño, whose mother approached a Colombian charity that helps tackle obesity after noticing Santiago’s weight was restricting his ability to move, has found a playmate - who unfortunately is suffering from similar health complications due to her growing appetite.
Isabela Caicedo's mother approached the same charity looking for help, after seeing the support Santiago's family were receiving in controlling their son's weight. Both babies now tip the scales at an alarming six and a half stone combined.
Medellin-based charity Chubby Hearts Foundation - Gorditos de Corazon - will work with the families and weight-loss specialists to try bring the babies' health and weight under control.
Santiago's mother admitted it was her own 'ignorance' that led to her son's weight gain, saying every time he cried she would give him milk and food to calm him down.
A representative for the charity said: "We hope with six to eight months using a special diet the babies could be down to a normal weight".
