Alex Bain has split up with his 16-year-old pregnant girlfriend.

The Coronation Street actor broke up with now ex-girlfriend Levi Selby just a few months after they announced the pregnancy. The pair announced that they were expecting a child together earlier this year, with Selby sharing a photo of the scan to Facebook. The 16-year-old is said to have broken the news of their split in a similar way. A source told The Sun:

“She was proud to tell the world she and Alex were going to be parents. "But things haven’t been running smoothly between them and now he’s told her it’s over. Everyone’s hoping it’s not because he already feels tied down.”

Bain, who plays Simon Barlow in the ITV soap, is due to sit his GCSEs this year. He was said to have been spreading the news around his school when he and his now ex-girlfriend discovered they were expecting. Writing on Facebook following the breakup, Selby wrote: “Me and my little girl from now on. Can’t wait to start my life with her.” Bain’s portrayal of Simon on Corrie saw him win Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2011. The 16-year-old has been on the show for 10 years and has received four more nominations during this time.
