Heartbroken Irish Mother Appeals for Return of Lost Teddy Bear

The bear is a precious reminder of her stillborn son Seán.

Devastated Irish mother Marie Melody has made a public appeal for help in tracking down a beloved soft toy; a precious reminder of her stillborn son.

Taking to Facebook, Marie explained that four months ago her world “fell apart” when she gave birth to her stillborn son Seán.

Their midwife, who had been present for the last check of her baby, gave Marie and her partner the bear, with Marie saying that she was “as devastated as we were” by the unexpected and tragic death.

Marie writes: “Seánie bear kept Seán company in his moss basket when we brought Seán home and is my little reminder of Seán when my arms ache as I can no longer hold my son.”

Over the four months since Seán passed, Marie has taken Seánie bear to various special places in honour of his young buddy, taking pictures of his adventures. She explains: “Hopefully if we are fortunate enough to have another child, will help them understand they’ve a big brother looking after them.”

Unfortunately, Seánie bear has now gone on a little adventure of his own, and his owners are desperate to get him back. He was last seen on Monday at 5.30pm after the Mini Marathon in a black Titleist backpack bag which was placed in the boot of a 2003 Silver Avensis Taxi on a trip from St Stephen’s Green taxi rank to Stillorgan LUAS stop.

Marie believes the taxi driver’s surname may have been Dalton, and describes him as a “lovely chatty Irish man, early 50’s with longish grey hair.”

Can you help to find this driver and reunite one mother with the precious cargo?

You can get in touch with Marie via Facebook here.

MISSING BEAR OF HUGE SENTIMENTAL VALUE – HELP NEEDED TO FIND TAXI DRIVER – PLEASE SHARE

Four months ago, our world fell apart when I gave birth to our stillborn son Seán. The midwife who did the last check of Seán while he was alive gave us this bear for Seán as she was as devastated as we were by his unexpected death. Seánie bear kept Seán company in his moss basket when we brought Seán home and is my little reminder of Seán when my arms ache as I can no longer hold my son.

Over the last four months, Seánie bear has travelled around to various places to honour his buddy Seán, and hopefully if we are fortunate enough to have another child, will help them understand they’ve a big brother looking after them. But (a bit like his Mum), he’s an independent spirit and has decided to go on a solo adventure and we need help tracking him down.

Seánie bear was last seen on Monday at 5.30pm after the Mini Marathon in a black Titleist backpack bag which was placed in the boot of a 2003 Silver Avensis Taxi on a trip from St Stephen’s Green taxi rank to Stillorgan luas stop (we missed the luas by seconds so four of us decided not to wait the 10mins in the pouring rain for the next). Another North Face bag belonging to Lisa Wix was also in the boot along with her wallet and phone. From memory we think the taxi driver’s name was Dalton (fairly sure surname) – lovely chatty Irish man, early 50’s with longish grey hair. Do you know this man??? Can you help us find him and his precious cargo???

Gardai in Store Street are being amazing going through the database but have not found any driver matching this description so some of the details might be wrong. LiveLine don’t do lost and found despite the sentimental value and NTA won’t share driver info with me so we are running out of options so hoping social media can work it’s magic and you’ll PLEASE SHARE AND HOPEFULLY THE TAXI DRIVER WILL REMEMBER US AND REUNITE US WITH OUR LITTLE BEAR.
