Irish mum shares videos of daily life living in emergency accommodation

There are currently hundreds of families in emergency accommodation.

Most of us couldn’t imagine living and trying to look after our children in a hotel room for an extended period of time, but unfortunately for many families across Ireland, they have no other option.

Mum Shannon Byrne recently shared a video of her daily morning routine with her children on TikTok, while living in emergency accommodation.

The videos have, unsurprisingly, garnered a lot of attention.

Shannon filmed her entire morning routine from getting the children ready, to making the bed and getting breakfast.

Shannon received huge support from people who viewed the video with many commenting how much respect they have for her persevering in such a difficult situation.

Due to the large number of views and comments on her morning routine video, Shannon later followed up with her night time routine.

Earlier this year the Children’s Rights Alliance said that child homelessness needs to be a top priority for new government.

According to Tanya Ward, Chief Executive of the Children’s Rights Alliance;

“Addressing child and family homelessness must be an urgent priority for the next government. Children now make up the largest population in homelessness, with child homelessness rising by a staggering 400 per cent from 2014 to 2019.”

With the new government having just recently been formed, hopefully steps are underway to help tackle the homeless crisis currently affecting hundreds of families across the country.
