The world watched in horror as the powerful Hurricane Sandy made her way towards America’s east coast on Monday as families endured the terrifying ordeal hoping to survive the superstorm.
However, one New Jersey man found himself in a horrific situation when his wife went into labour five weeks early just as the hurricane began to pound the northeast.
The couple was forced to seek medical assistance in terrifying conditions when Christine Schleppy began having contractions in her home, where she was warned to seek shelter and safety.

Pregnant Christine was horrified when she went into labour five weeks early
Emergency services battled through life-threatening conditions to help Christine and transport her to hospital.
According to ABC News, Christine’s husband David said: “We knew there were many trees down and roads getting closed left and right.”
Flooding and dangerous conditions made it impossible for an ambulance to transport the couple to their local hospital and the vehicle soon became trapped in the mud, stranding them in the middle of the superstorm.
