“Part of Paul wanting to be a citizen was not to stay in America, but to go home.”

Christmas can be a bit of a tough time when you're away from home - and for Paul Mooney, originally from Limerick, that's particularly ringing true this year.

He's been living away from home for more than ten years and, this year, he and his wife Tara are expecting their second child - which means they are unable to travel home for Christmas.

But The Connected Restaurant experience, powered by Three, was able to reunite  the family for a special Christmas dinner.

“He’s a marvellous man, and I miss him. I miss the two of them," Paul said of his parents.

The joyous reunion was captured on camera at Three’s Connected Restaurant as Paul, Tara and their 2-year-old daughter Maeve, shared the unique dining experience with Paul’s parents - bridging the connection between New York and Dublin.

“I feel as if we’re at the same table," Paul's mum exclaimed, as they celebrated the holidays.

The heart-warming and poignant video captures moments of pure joy and raw emotion, representative of those separated at Christmas.

You can watch the reunion in full below.

This festive season, The Connected Restaurant, created by Three, brought together families separated by the Atlantic Ocean. The unique fairytale of New York and Dublin dining experience, provided the opportunity for families to share a special Christmas dinner together.

Diners at The Connected Restaurant were treated to an experience filled with surprises, sprinkled with some Christmas magic as they dined on an exclusively curated festive menu designed by Irish-American culinary phenom Flynn McGarry inspired by the flavours of Christmas and Ireland, to give guests a true taste of home.
