There’s a new daddy in town.
Mateo Saina, best known as the maitre d’ at the restaurant on RTÉ show First Dates Ireland, has revealed that his partner has given birth to their first child.
He shared the news on Instagram today with a photo of the newborn’s feet, saying they’d had a daughter and that it was “the proudest day” of his life.
The Croatian native, who welcomes nervous daters into the First Dates restaurant, broke the news that he was to become a parent back earlier this year.
“I’m now seven and a half years with my lady and she’s a neighbour from where I come from,” he told RTÉ’s The Today Show.
“And I have an exclusive for you, I’m going to be a dad – in three months time.”
He also said that his partner’s pregnancy had been going well and that she hadn’t been too sick.
Hosts Daithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane pressed Mateo on whether he’d like to see his so or daughter as a contestant on First Dates Ireland in 20 or 30 years time but Mateo didn’t seem too keen.
“Well hopefully they’re going to find [a partner] for themselves without any help.”
Mateo works as a restaurant manager when he’s not filming the dating show.
