Why nobody thought of this before is completely beyond us, but an artisan ice cream maker has combined her offering with booze and opened an ice cream BARlour.
New York City’s Tipsy Scoop blends your favourite ice cream flavours with alcohol.
The result? A mouthwatering, adults-only dessert version of the tastiest old fashioned cocktails (think Maple Bacon Bourbon), the fanciest fashion-forward blends (Cake Batter Vodka Martini, anyone?) and the most delicious summer tipples (Mango Margarita Sorbet *drool).
Once you’ve chosen your poison, you can have it served in a sprinkle-covered shot glass, a churro bowl or an ice cream sandwich. While you wait, why not enjoy a Spiked Hazelnut Coffee or a Raspberry Limoncello Sorbet?
You can even order a boozy ice cream cake (this one is chocolate stout and pretzel)…
The brainchild of Melissa Tavss, a former liquor publicist whose Italian ancestors brought ice cream to Scotland in the 1800s, Tipsy Scoop opened in the Big Apple this week, but already offers customised take-home tubs (for hen parties, birthdays and, well, Fridays).
The brand is stocked in upmarket stores such as Whole Foods too, but with a 5% alcohol content, customers have to flash their ID on the way into the store. There’s even a bouncer to check the clientele is over the legal drinking age of 21…
This is making an NY trip look ever more appealing this summer.
