Lidl is releasing a ridiculously fancy €7 dark chocolate Easter egg and we’re there

That you, Lidl?

Anna O'Rourke

It’s a fact of life; the older you get, the more you want a notions-y Easter egg.

You were always thrilled with an old Kinder surprise as a kid but now you can’t help but eye up the gigantic (very expensive) eggs you see in department stores and fantasise about going to town on one.

That said, we’ve just been floored at the fact that the luxury egg of our dreams is actually from Lidl and costs €6.99.

The super-fancy Premium Single Origin eggs are landing in supermarkets ahead of Easter and we can’t help but be intrigued.

They come in dark chocolate, the fanciest of all the chocolates, and in two flavours; a “full bodied Ecuadorian dark chocolate egg with intense cocoa flavours” and a “subtle floral aroma and a luxurious Madagascan dark chocolate egg with delicate fruity notes and a sweet cocoa aroma.” Ultimate notions.

They’re available in stores from tomorrow, Thursday 22 February.

If the Premium ones are a bit too fancy for your tastes, the regular Deluxe eggs that were popular last year are coming back in four flavours – Fudge Feast, Eton Mess, Dark Mocha and Cornish Sea Salted Caramel.

They’ll all be in stores from Thursday week, 1 March.
