We are so grateful to TikTok and the many viral food ideas we discovered there.
From whipped coffee to that feta cheese pasta dish, TikTok is always one step ahead when it comes to showing us what is trending in the world of food. And right now, it is pesto eggs.
Yep, that’s right. And if you have been wondering what all those weirdly green eggs you have been seeing in your feed are all about, well, now you know.
And the best bit? This could not be easier to make.
Apparently, the original pesto eggs video came from TikTok user Amy Wilichowski, and has had more than 9 million views by now. The video takes us through the recipe step-by-step, but essentially, the idea is that you replace whatever cooking oil or butter you would usually use to fry an egg with pesto.

Once her eggs and pesto are cooked together, Amy then puts ricotta on a toasted piece of crusty bread and adds smashed avocado.
She plates up the eggs and then adds a drizzle of honey, salt, pepper and chilli flakes.
