Nearly twice as many young people (50 percent) as elderly (27 percent) give up trying to stop smoking in a stressful situation, while three times more 18 to 34-year-olds (38 percent) than people over 55 years of age (13 percent) return to smoking because of alcohol consumption, according to research conducted by Boots.
Clearly, there are stresses in our lives that hinder our success when we want to achieve something, and overcoming an addiction is no easy feat. A huge majority (85 percent) of would-be quitters try multiple times to quit but ultimately go back to the habit. With this in mind, it's important to understand the reasons we find quitting smoking so difficult, and equip ourselves with what we need - focusing instead on the good.

Boots believe positive action and hard work should be rewarded. That’s why they set up their Stop For Good Rewards programme. There’s evidence to suggest that incentives for stopping smoking boost success rates and those who join a stop smoking support programme are more likely to succeed. Boots will reward those who remain smoke free through the 12 weeks of the programme, with rewards worth up to €75, along with advice from the experts and plenty of support when those cravings start to show. So, to be in with a chance to win that fantastic €250 voucher to spend at Lyrath Estate, simply fill in the form below. Brought to you by Boots. The Stop for Good Rewards programme is designed to reward people who are determined to quit smoking for good. If you want to sign up, click here or talk to a staff member in your local Boots.
