The gym is filled with weights, sweat towels and treadmills but it’s also filled with lots of interesting people.
In fact, there are a few people that you see in absolutely every gym. And while we’re not saying that they all shouldn’t be there, it would make life easier for the rest of us if most of them weren't.
1. The muscle man/woman
These are the people who are serious about their weights. They’re also the ones that make us afraid to pick up our, in comparison measly, weights and they always make very strange noises.
2. The traffic light
Also known as the tomato, this is the person who goes bright red after 30 seconds on the cross-trainer. It’s okay, you’re not the only one.
3. The ‘a personal trainer sounds like good fun’ enthusiast
It’s bad enough doing a testing workout never mind having experienced gym-goers stare at you and your ruthless personal trainer. Stop showing off!
4. The lurker
Okay, so you need to use this machine. Doesn’t mean you need to skulk around staring at us using it!
5. The heavy breather
Enough said.
6. The model
You’re at the gym, why on earth do you have a full face of makeup and your hair perfectly styled. Oh right, that’s why, because you’re not actually here to break a sweat.
7. The ‘are they really wearing that’ poser
From guys wearing jeans to women in cat suits (believe it or not, it has happened), there is always someone there who really needs to invest in some proper sports clothes.
8. The couple
Going to the gym together sounds like a great idea, but only if you plan to exercise. Otherwise, we’re sure you have a room at home you can use.
9. The talker
By all means have your mobile on you at the gym but don’t take up a mat or machine and have a five-hour conversation.
10. The flasher
They might have killer abs or the most pert bum in the entire world but do we really need to see it? And let’s face it, it’s not like you can look away.

However, researchers at Oxford University have developed a new scan technique which may help spot the lifelong condition sooner. The technique uses specialised CT scans, which […]
