Wexford have something else to celebrate this month after their fantastic three-in-a-row victory over Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie final in September.
The county’s camogie captain Ursula Jacob has today been named The Irish Times and Irish Sports Council ‘Sportswoman of the Month’.
The 27-year-old from Oulart-The Ballagh club was a true leader and team-mate throughout the county camogie season and topped her hard work off with a neat 2-07 in the 3-13 to 3-06 win.
Both Jacob’s parents played for the Yellowbellies too. Her father, Mick Jacob, was a hurling All-Star and her mother, Breda, made it to the 1972 camogie final. Her sister, Helena, is also on the Wexford camogie panel and her brothers, Michael and Rory, are both senior country hurlers as well. Born and bred with the camogie stick in her hand!

This nomination means Jacob is up for the prestigious title of ‘Sportswoman of the Year’ for the second time in her career.
Jacob will be selected from 12 monthly winners and the results will be announced in December.
Jacob is up against the likes of Katie Taylor (Boxing), Fiona Coghlan (Rugby), Bethany Firth (Swimming) and Stephanie Meadow (Golf) for the title.
Congratulations and best of luck from all at Her.ie!
