Okay, so we all know that an apple a day supposedly keeps the doctor away, but according to some boffins in the United States, this isn’t actually true.
Yes, believe it or not, a single apple won’t help us too much in the health department. So what should we be doing to keep our body in tip-top condition? Eh…well…we should be eating not one, but TWO apples a day.
The Irish Sun reports that according to a new study, we need to chow down on two apples a day in order to protect our bodies against heart attacks, strokes and to keep our cholesterol levels in check.
Scientists from Florida State University carried out a simple test on a host of volunteers who were deemed to be most at risk from having a heart attack or a stroke. Half of the volunteers were asked to eat two apples every day for six months, while the rest were told to eat some prunes.

The results showed that the people who snacked on the apples managed to slash their cholesterol levels by a quarter after three months. And, after six months, levels were down even more.
