An open letter to the playboy model Dani Mathers is the most empowering thing you’ll read today

Cassie Delaney

Last week we reported the news that a playboy model had come under serious criticism for being a general asshole body-shaming a woman in the gym.

Playmate of the Year,’ Dani Mathers was working out at her local gym when she snapped a naked woman in the shower and proceeded to poke fun at the older woman’s body.

The American model sparked serious outrage when she snapped the nude woman, who was innocently showering with the caption: “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either” followed by a picture of her shocked face.

Naturally, people were outraged at the pass-remarkable nature of the comments.

Mathers faced serious backlash and has been indefinitely suspended from her regular slot on a Los Angeles radio show called ‘The Heidi and Frank Show’.

What’s more, it appears that the gym where the picture was taken, LA Fitness, has reported the incident to the police for violating the woman’s right to privacy.

And while the Jane Doe in the photograph hasn’t come forward, a blogger has spoken out eloquently and said what Mathers should have realised.

In a post shared on Facebook, blogger Christine who blogs under the name Delicate Flower, reminded women of their true beauty.

She writes:

Dear Dani Mathers,

By now, most of my friends have seen that you posted a picture of a naked woman showering at your gym with the caption “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either”.

About a month ago, I was changing to work out, I slipped my scrubs off without taking my shoes off, and as I stood there in shoes, undies and a headband, I caught my husband taking my picture so I posed playfully due to the obvious absurdity of it all. Later, I saw the picture and begged him to delete it, I hated it, all I saw was lumps and bumps. He simply smiled and softly said “I think it’s beautiful”. So I let him keep it.

Here’s the deal- you may have been a Playboy model but not all of us work out to be “hot”, some of us work out simply to honor the bodies we were given. That’s all that woman was trying to do and you violated her. Shame on you. I bet I could get 100s of women to post their beautiful bodies and regardless of size, shape or color, they will ALL be more beautiful than the ugliness you showed in that post.

So, ‪#‎DaniMathers‬, I’d like to introduce you to my 5’10”, 194lb lumpy, bumpy glory.

The post has received praise from all over the world and is a much better message than the hate Mathers was spreading.
