A poll has revealed that those who practice medicine are the most trusted and are believed to be the most honest.
The study, conducted by the Irish Medical Council found that over 90 per cent of people don’t think that doctors would lie to them according to the Irish Daily Mirror.
Teachers followed closely behind as the second most trusted profession with professors coming in third.

Teachers were found to be the second most trusted profession.
Newsreaders also made it into the top five with over three quarters of people saying they would believe what they were telling them.
Gardai rounded off the top five with over 75 per cent of those asked putting their faith in their honesty.
The majority of people also revealed that they would take the word of the person in the street. In fact 20 per cent more than last year said they would put their trust in an ordinary man or woman.

Newsreaders, such as Anne Doyle, also made it into the top five.
But not all of the professions are believed to be trustworthy. Those that didn’t do so well in the study included business leaders, priests and TDs.
