If you were born with a big head we're sure you've heard all about it, your poor mother has probably brought it up a lot and your siblings probably slag you about it, even if the rest of your body has caught up in proportion. Well now you can fight back with this new found information. According to UK Biobank the size of a child's head is linked to academic success and overall higher intelligence. The study looked at data from 100,000 participants and more than half a million samples were collected from people between the ages of 37 and 73. Analysis of this data showed that babies born with larger heads are much more likely to get a degree, as well as score higher in exams. A big head wasn't the only factor to intelligence and good results in education of course, did it was a determining factor. The research also found that gene variants were also strongly associated with intelligence. So if your mam tells you that being smart is in your genes, she's probably right. Originally reported by The Times, researchers said: “Highly significant associations were observed between the cognitive test scores and many polygenic profile scores, including intracranial volume, infant head circumference and childhood cognitive ability.” So next time you can't get a hat to fit your head, be thankful, it's because you're a genius.
