A woman has taken to Instagram to show the harsh effect endometriosis has had on her skin.

Thessy Kouzoukas is a 27-year-old blogger and co-owner of Australian clothing label, Sabo Skirt.

She suffers from endometriosis – a condition that causes womb lining to build up in places other than womb leading to painful swelling, bloating, and heavy periods.

However, endometriosis can also have a severe effect on a woman’s skin due to an imbalance in hormone production.

Thessy took to social media to share a photo of her own struggle with the condition and how it affected the skin on her face.

She said that she hadn’t had clear skin in two years.

Thessy wrote:

“One of the side effects of my endo is the inconsistency of my skin. One day it would be clearish, the next I’d wake up with boils.

“I haven’t had consistently clear skin in two years. I tried everything .. I literally put everything on my face and burnt off the top layer of my skin.”

The blogger went on to say that she realised she had been doing “too much” to her skin and that her skincare routine now has led to her face clearing up considerably.

“Not only is it clear, but it’s dewy and glows,” she wrote.

This isn’t the first time that Thessy has spoken out about her experiences with endometriosis.

Earlier this year, she shared a picture of the swelling that occurred in her abdomen after a cyst ruptured inside of her.

“This is me. This is endometriosis,” she wrote.
