That famous singer – born in 1998. The newest supermodel – 1996. You don’t know what the latest memes mean. It will happen to us all, just some sooner than others.
Have you ever wondered, though, when exactly the majority of the population actually become younger than you?
This is a sure sign of going from ‘I think I’m old now’ to ‘I’m going to start looking into pension plans’.
Over at Flowing Data, Nathan Yau has put together a really interesting interactive graph that shows exactly what percentage older you are than the rest of the population.
Based on data from the American Community Survey, the age that you become older than the rest of the population is currently 38.
James Franco, Ashton Kutcher, Myleene Klass and Liv Tyler are part of the club, so don’t feel too bad.
This is the graph for a typical 24-year-old. You’re still younger than 67% of the population. You’re a spring chicken.
