According to food behaviour expert Dr Brian Wansink, sitting by the window or a well-lit part of the restaurant will make you much more likely to choose the healthy option.
He writes for the Mail Online: "It seems dim lighting could make you feel less guilty about eating fatty fried foods, and the unhealthiest eaters tend to end up furthest from the door.
"They eat the fewest salads and are 73 per cent more likely to order dessert.
"While sitting by a window could make you more subtly conscious of how you look, and light and air can make that fresh, green salad seem more appealing."
