Why on Earth would you put parsley in your vagina???
Well,
Marie Claire have apparently advised women to do just that if they want to induce their periods. Bizarre, right?
In the article, it advises women to "kick-start" their period by using the herb to soften the cervix and level out any hormonal imbalances.
Why? Parsley is apparently a emmenagogue which stimulates menstrual flow.
"If you’re struggling to find a dish based on parsley, don’t panic – the most effective forms are said to be parsley tea and parsley vaginal inserts."
Parsley. Vaginal. Inserts.
However, now doctors are advising strongly against it.
Dr Shazia Malik told
The Independent: “There is no evidence of any benefit to a woman of doing this, and clear risk of significant harm as deaths have been reported.
“I would urge women not to insert anything unless they have taken proper medical advice.”
She added words that we should all live by: “There are only a few things that should go in your vagina and vegetables generally aren’t one of them.”
