A man whose leg has swollen leaving him unable to wear trousers, has told media he feels abandoned by doctors.
Michael Cull from Aberdeenshire, known locally as “Elephant Man” noticed an irregular growth spurt starting following a car accident 10 years ago.
The 64 year old can now no longer fit into his largest custom made trousers, and has to wear size 15 shoes to accommodate the growth which is travelling up towards his thigh.
Cull was diagnosed with elephantiasis, despite showing no signs of the parasite in his body which usually causes the disease.
Speaking to Metro UK, Cull has revealed he feels betrayed by the medical professionals, and has now been forced to stay at home due to his ongoing discomfort
“I have no idea how I stand legally on this. One minute I’m told I’ll get the operation, the next I’m told I won’t.
‘When I went to see the doctor in Hull he said this could be dealt with, what operations I’d require, and was I told I could get in in late October, early November time.Suddenly he seems to have changed his mind.”
Doctors in Dundee have now suggested Cull’s leg pressure can now be reduced using a compression device on a weekly basis, although he has no not received any updated treatment since going to press.
