Five weeks to go!
The Christmas shopping has started, the plans of who’s coming to dinner have begun and most of the Christmas lights across the country have been switched on… Christmas week is just a mere month away and the excitement is growing by the day!
We’ll keep you on track with your health, wellbeing and mind matters this festive season, with five weeks to go we’re sharing his four-point plan of how not to let stress and exhaustion get to you in the run-up to the big day.
Cleaning, buying, planning, cooking, baking, reading, making…it’s no wonder we’re ready to drop by the time Christmas Day arrives!
It’s the time of the year when we all want to feel our best but the combination of too much food and drink, a lack of exercise and increased stress levels means most of us are too tired to enjoy the day.
Follow this four point plan to make sure you enjoy your Christmas this year…
1. Stay Moving
Not the kind of moving that involves pushing a trolley around a supermarket or trying to tie a tree to the roof of your car, we’re talking about the kind of moving where you take an hour out of your day and clear your mind with a walk or socialise at an exercise class. The easiest and cheapest exercise to do is walking and you’ll feel great after it too. Don’t just slump on your sofa after the big dinner, take a walk of at least 30 minutes after your Christmas meal. Take the family with you, it’s exercise you can all do together.
2. Take Your Time
Instead of trying to buy everything on one bi shopping trip, stagger it ad buy just a few items at a time. Break tasks down into manageable chunks, create a plan for the Christmas lunch doing what you can in advance and involving others, the family should be helping too!

3. Make Sure To Catch Your Z’s!
Sleep affects all areas of our lives, from our moods, memory and performance at work, to our waistline and skin. So make sure you get enough, between six and eight hours is right for most people. Also check your bed is comfortable, too much pressure on a joint or muscle can lead to serious problems.
4. Don’t Ignore Your Health
Aches and pains won’t sort themselves out. Christmas involves a lot of work too, keep your body in check and play it safe. Watch your back when you’re lifting and tugging. If you feel like your health is at risk, consider what you are doing.
