Did you know that cleaning the oven and giving the toilet a good scrub can actually reduce your risk of breast cancer?
According to reports, a new study has revealed that if you do approximately six hours of housework, it can reduce your risk of breast cancer by up to 13 per cent.
While this won’t come as much of a surprise, what with the already established link between cancer and physical exercise, it does highlight that a moderate amount also helps.
In fact the research found that all it takes is two and half hours of housework and your risk of cancer can be reduced by up to six per cent. Alternatively, three hours outside doing the gardening can reduce your risk by ten per cent.

Housework, including gardening, could reduce your risk of cancer.
The study was conducted as of the European Prospective Investigation of Cancer Study and involved over 250,000 women from across Europe. Other lifestyle choices, including diet, were also taken into consideration.
Speaking about the findings, Professor Tim Key of the University of Oxford said, ‘This large study further highlights the benefits of being active, even moderate amounts.’
Guess we better get out the duster then!
