Travelling is great, but it does have some nasty side-effects.
One massive one is jet lag. The bane of every long haul flier’s life. It can throw you for a loop and next thing you know you arrive at your hotel only to fall asleep on top of the covers for 11 hours, waking up sweating at 2 in the morning.
Not ideal. Did you know, though, that jet lag can also affect your period?
According to Marie Claire, travelling across different time zones and being exposed to light at odd times of day can affect your circadian rhythms, triggering hormonal changes in your body.
Weirdly, the symptoms get stronger the further east you travel.
Due to this, your periods can be irregular or you can miss out on it entirely if you were due to get it while on holidays.
