'Paint it Pink' hopes to highlight the important work the Irish Cancer Society do in order to raise money for breast cancer research.
Every year, Action Breast Cancer reaches 25,000 women who are concerned about breast cancer and breast health. The organisation encourages women to follow the "five point breast awareness code".

2. Know what changes to look and feel for
3. Look and feel for changes
4. Talk to your GP immediately if you spot any changes
5. Go for routine breast screening after the age of 50
There's a number of pink themed things happening this month: Dublin Bus plan to change their social media profiles to pink and more buildings are planning to go pink for October.
If you want to support the campaign, there's a huge number of ways to get involved.
Buy and wear a pink ribbon, organise a fundraising event like a coffee morning or sponsored walk, wear pink to work and encourage your friends to do the same or have a cake sale.
Make sure to take photos of your fundraising activities and share them with the hashtag #PINKPICS.

Anyone who is concerned about breast awareness or breast cancer can speak with a specialist nurse in confidence by calling the Irish Cancer Society’s National Cancer Helpline on Freefone 1800 200 700.
