Miss UK is handing back her crown after she was told to lose weight

'I was called fat... I'm a size 10'.

The pageant winner has withdrawn from the next stages of the competition.

Miss United Kingdom has given up her title and her chances in the international stages of the competition after she was told to lose weight by organisers.

Zoiey Smale from Nottinghamshire in England was expected to compete in Miss United Continents in September, however, pulled out after organisers told her to lose weight and go on a diet plan.

Taking to Facebook to share her story, Zoiey explained the reasoning behind her decision, saying:

“Some of you may think this is cowardly, however, I don’t think it is right to have my face representing a pageant ethos I do not believe in.

“I will be handing back my crown and wish the new title holder the very best of luck.”

The pageant winner says she was branded as “fat because I am a size 10” and reminded followers that she would not change her body for anybody.

“My body has carried me through my 20 plus years of being on this earth, allowed me to have a career I am very proud of, carry a child and the best thing of all, my body has never given up on me.”

Since then, Zoiey has been flooded with support from followers and friends alike.

The pageant winner took to Facebook again today to thank them.

“Knowing that you have the support from the masses mean more than any title.”
