LauraLynn House, Ireland’s only children’s hospice, has partnered with Procter & Gamble (Proud Sponsor of Mums) and introduced a new online community www.lauralynnspreciousmoments.ie.
The new community is calling on everyone nationwide to show their support by registering, sharing a precious moment and purchasing a brick to help build the country’s second children’s hospice.
A second children’s hospice will give families who have children living with life-limiting conditions better choice of access. Bricks start at €2.50 and everyone who registers goes into a draw to win a year’s supply of P&G products.
LauraLynn provides respite and end of life care in a home-away-from-home setting where children can be surrounded by their friends and family in a comfortable environment, affirming the dignity of life.
Fundraising for LauraLynn began in 2001 following an enormous personal tragedy in the lives of Jane and Brendan McKenna which saw them lose both their daughters, Laura and Lynn, in the space of two years.
Laura was born with a hole in her heart, and having endured two serious operations, went on to have a few relatively good years, with the final repair operation to come. Sadly, Laura did not survive and died in 1999, aged just 4. Her older sister Lynn was diagnosed with Leukaemia on the very day her younger sister passed away, after 13 years of perfect health.
Jane and Brendan McKenna have worked tirelessly since to ease the burden of other suffering families.
