As with all batsh*t Internet trends it’s difficult to chase the origin. This one seems to have come off the back of a video uploaded to Facebook in which a woman talks about her clean underwear.
The video has sparked a conversation around vaginal discharge and in celebration of not having any, people have taken to social media to share images of their underwear, clean and free from stains.
The only problem is that vaginal discharge is completely healthy and in fact, it’s probably a more worrisome sign if you don’t have any.
According to WebMD, vaginal discharge is perfectly normal. The amount can vary, as can odor and hue (its color can range from clear to a milky white-ish), depending on the time in your menstrual cycle. For example, there will be more discharge if you are ovulating, breastfeeding, or are sexually aroused.
@AsToldByBrina women need to educate themselves about their vagina . If you don’t have discharge GO TO THE DOCTOR. pic.twitter.com/VxaMSxo2Zr

So apparently the #pantychallenge is a thing because people want to once again shame women into thinking healthy bodies are gross as hell.

This #pantychallenge is ridiculous & was clearly started by teenagers who know nothing about how the human body works. Go see a doctor #wut

Like I keep saying, self-hate is so real. This #pantychallenge is women with internalized misogyny participating in their own oppression ?

Can we have, like, 5 minutes where we don’t shame the perfectly normal, healthy bodies of women because that would be A+ #pantychallenge

After all, it serves a purpose.
Discharge is great. I can tell where abouts I am during my cycle by looking at my knickers #pantychallenge
