Comedy legend Chris O’Dowd of IT Crowd fame is on a mission to combat ignorance of testicular cancer by flying a big hot air balloon in the shape of man bits across the skies (no seriously!)
Teaming up with the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign, the charity ambassador has started a project called SkyBalls in which they hope to build a “hot air balloon shaped like a gigantic testicles.”
Here are five reasons why the campaigners feel that the world needs a campaign like this:
1. The death of young men to testicular cancer can be prevented.
2. Ignorance & embarrassment are just two reasons this cancer causes any more trouble than it needs to. The way we can stop this is through awareness & confrontation.
3. A massive flying ballsack will be impossible to ignore. And hopefully chip away at the taboos still surrounding this nasty little cancer.
4. Our balloon will also have a lifespan & a cost efficiency that will outperform any other media initiative: It is reusable, easily transported globally and should last us at least 10 years.
5. It’s a massive pair of flying gonads!
So far the project has raised over £4,000 for their SkyBalls campaign. Their goal is to hit the £100,000 mark and get their project off the ground.
More information can be found on their project page here.
