Hair removal in the pubic region has become a common and favourable practice.
However, the good people over at ASAPscience have released a new video claiming that going au naturel is the best option scientifically.
The video explains that humans lost body hair, minus the pubes and armpit hair, about 70,000 to 120,000 years after the Ice Age.
They claim that pubic hair remained for a variety of reasons. Firstly they claim that the hair prevents friction during intercourse which has a variety of benefits. Secondly, it exists as "visual signal to potential partners that one is ready to mate”.
The video then goes on to explain that the removal of pubic hair correlates with the rise of gonorrhea, chlamydia, and HPV.
They also reveal that the removal of hair causes itching, rashes and ingrown hair. Irritation combined with the moist environment can also grow bacteria that causes infections.
