Headaches are a common problem but there are also some things you can do to get rid of them and get on with your life.
Here are six of the most common causes of headaches and how to avoid them...
Dehydration
Dehydration is one of the most common causes of a headache but it's also one of the easiest to fix. All you have to do is make sure you drink plenty of water, approximately two litres, throughout the day. If it's warm outside or you're exercising, you may have to increase your intake as you lose fluid through sweat.
Bad Lighting
Bad lighting can lead to a sore head so work in a well-lit area and take regular breaks from your computer or television screen. If that fails, you might want to alter your screen's brightness levels. Loud noises can also cause headaches so keep volumes at a reasonable level too.
Tension
Tension headaches can be caused by all sorts but, with a few simple stretches, you may be able to relieve the pain. For more tips on how to relieve headaches and the symptoms, such as neck pain, check out the below video with Chartered Physiotherapist Lorraine Hanrahan.

Diet
Not eating enough can cause headaches but so too can the wrong foods. It is best to avoid foods that are rich in additives, especially nitrites, as well as those containing caffeine. Cheese, chocolate and processed meats ought to be eaten in moderation.
Sleep
If you don’t get enough shut-eye, you could end up waking up with a sore head. The simple solution is getting seven to eight hours sleep a night. Don’t snooze for too long though as that, along with naps during the day, can also cause headaches.
Stress
You might not be able to control the amount of pressure in your life but you can control how you deal with it. Relaxation techniques, such as regular exercise and fresh air, can help to combat stress and keep you relaxed thus headache-free. To help relieve stress, enter
