Study Holds The Secret To Living The Longest Life Possible (But You Might Not Like The Results)

We're not sure how much we're loving this study...

If you want to live a long-lasting healthy life, it’s time to quit sex, and start munching your vegetables.

A study of more than 1,000 species found that secret to outliving your neighbours is having no sex, no children and munching on vegetables.

Getting Jiggy With It This is one to note. Having satisfying sex two to three times a week can add as much as three years to your life. Regular sex can also lower your blood pressure, improve your sleep and boost your immunity. Now we're talking...

A longer life means less sex…

Yes, we took a deep sigh there too.

According to the research, sex puts stress on your body, as well as the parental responsibilities of having children. Stress is known to shorten lifespan.

So what if you like life in the fast lane?

Well, it’s not good news, as the study suggests those quieter by nature and animals living in colder environments are most likely to live longest – as they spend considerable hours of their lifetime asleep.

Speaking about the results, Professor Shai Meiri from Tel Aviv University, who led the international study said:

“We found that reptiles that were sexually mature early on were less likely to make it to old age. Live fast and die young, they say — but live slow, live long.”

The upside? We don’t have to worry about ALL the results…

The team of researchers believe not all the results will directly apply to humans:

“If you’re an animal, hunting your food can be dangerous. You risk injury or even death. This is why you cannot simply transfer this logic to humans. Going to buy a head of lettuce at the supermarket is just as risky as going to the meat department.”

If we’re picking and choosing what statistics to believe, this probably isn’t our most pressing issue with the study…
