Apparently, ‘stress eating’ might be a load of BS

Awful news!

It’s safe to say that people react differently to stress, with many of us choosing different methods to relax.

Some may try get an extra work out at the gym to release endorphins and release some pressure while others binge on food or alcohol to distract ourselves from the bigger problems we face.

I myself can confess that if I’m feeling tense or pressured especially when it comes to exam time, I eat tonnes of food that I may not even like or enjoy – which I later blame on stress.

According to Biological Psychology, the body tends to react to stress by decreasing appetite than an increased one.

In the study, 59 people were observed for 10 days to see did their diets differ much when put under stress.

The study was carried out by the test subjects who checked in on an app, updating what they ate and why they ate it.

Researchers found that people who ate while stressed did it more because of hunger rather than taste. The study also found there was no specific link found between stress and the quantity of food a person eats.

What this ultimately means for me and other ‘stress-eaters’ is that blaming eating bad foods on stress is actually pretty futile… *Sigh*.
