Sexual Health Awareness Week has kicked off this week thanks to SpunOut.ie, who are running the awareness campaign until December 5th.
The campaign, which was launched on World AIDS Day, Monday December 1st, aims to make regular STI testing the norm among people who are sexually active and it is also encouraging them to go for a full sexual health screening.
Statistics from 2013 show that the number of people presenting at STI clinics peaked after the festive period in January. Remember that getting tested now will help catch undiagnosed STIs, allow for treatment and reduce the risk of further transmission.
Events will be held in colleges around Ireland this week in order to raise awareness of the importance of getting tested for STIs. Participating colleges include Trinity, IT Carlow, DCU and UCC.
