We are shook! This fruit contains as much sugar as our fave chocolate

NO WAY.

It’s no secret that fruit is high in sugar but what we weren’t aware of is just how much of the sweet stuff that some of our favourite snacks contain.

Of course, our favourite fruits would have to be the ones that contain the most sugar and we’re dismayed to learn that mango is one of the worst culprits.

Yes, mango. That delicious fruit which is oh so tasty in smoothies, juices and cocktails when summer rolls around.

However, the below fun fact (read, not so fun) means we might have to rethink our fruit choices in the future.

Nutritionist Jenny Champion, MS, RD, CDE spoke to Byrdie and explained that a cup of mango “has almost 23 grams of sugar”.

That’s frightening enough in its own right but wait until you wear what other information Jenny had to share.

This amount of sugar is almost as the same as a full bar of Dairy Milk Caramel and we don’t know how you’re feeling right now but WE. ARE. SHOOK.

Another shocking fact uncovered was the fact that bananas are almost 25 percent sugar so you might want to rethink that quick snack on the go.

However, there are some fruits that you can eat without worrying too much about the sugar content, mainly berries and apples.

They’re not as calorie-laden plus they’re high in fibre which means they’re more easily digestible in comparison to other fruits.
