Earlier today we were giving all the love to Marian Keyes, who has opened up about her struggles with depression, and we recommended that anyone who needed someone to talk to if they were feeing depressed should contact Aware.
Her.ie reader Jenny Walshe spotted the piece, and got in touch to tell us about another familiar Irish face who has been speaking out about mental health.
Former Munster Rugby star Alan Quinlan took to Twitter a number of weeks back to ask followers for their suggestions on a new fitness challenge, and a short time later announced that he would be taking on this year’s Samsung Night Run in aid of Aware.

A very worthwhile cause and serious hat tip to Quinny for bringing mental health issues into the public forum, but you’ll forgive us for getting momentarily distracted by the image above. Any one else a fan of the ‘Run Like Ryan Gosling is waiting for you’ memes? This might be the closest thing we’ll get to an Irish version… and we’re just fine with that.
Turns out running through the capital at night looks pretty fun too.
