This woman’s 30 second ‘trick’ to finding her breast cancer lump has gone viral

Amanda Cassidy

We all know the importance of self-examination when it comes to being breast aware.

But this advice from a woman in the UK who discovered a lump even when doctors didn’t, is important to all of us.

Hayley Browning from Essex simply examined her breasts while lying down.

“I’m hoping to share a little trick of mine with as many people as possible, which could potentially help save someone’s life. Three weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I could only feel the lump whilst lying down and it completely disappeared standing up. Most websites tell you to check for lumps in the shower but if I had followed this advice, the lump may have grown too large to be treatable.”

Hayley has a long road ahead but the fact that she found it so early gives her a very good chance of beating the disease fast.

Responding to Hayley’s Facebook post, many other young women came forward saying they too only discovered their lump while lying in bed.

It is because of the position of the breast tissue while lying horizontal.  Hayley hopes her trick for detecting the lump can now help others – over 65 thousand people have shared her post.

So when you next do your self-check it is a good idea to check lying down as well as standing up.
