Woman shares photo to raise awareness of a breast cancer symptom that can go unnoticed

A woman has shared a photo of her breast in order to raise awareness about a lesser-known symptom of breast cancer.

Claire Warner, who's based in the UK, took to Facebook last week to share the image which shows a small area of barely detectable dimpling on her breast. The mother of two explained how she had been feeling fine and did not have any lump in her breast, a common symptom of breast cancer Claire explained that only for another post shared by Lisa Royle, who was also diagnosed with breast cancer, she wouldn't have picked up on the dimple. Claire has since learned that she has invasive ductal carcinoma but thankfully, she caught "the contained lump" early on. Describing it as a "nasty bugger", she went on to explain that with her treatment plan of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, she has every hope of making a full recovery. Claire ended her post by urging others to be careful and diligently check their breasts:

"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check yourself (males as well as females) and get your loved ones to check themselves also. If I can help one other person, the way I was helped, then it's been worth showing my soon-to-be-reduced left tit to the world".

As a result of sharing her story, Claire has received a large amount of friend requests and well-wishes and in a bid to keep her Facebook account as "normal as possible", she has set up a Twitter account. In a post that has since been deleted as she wishes to keep her Facebook page private, Claire wrote:

"Ok, here goes - the Facebook status and photo I never dreamt I'd be posting - PLEASE READ and more importantly LOOK! This is a picture of my left boob. The small purplish bruise is where I had a biopsy taken. The minuscule dimple up and to the left of it is a rare and little-known symptom of BREAST CANCER Blink and you'd miss it. I only spotted it thanks to another post shared by an amazing friend I hope I'm one of the lucky ones. I've caught it exceptionally early (only thanks to someone else sharing a similar post). And while it's a nasty bugger, it is one small contained lump and after surgery, chemo and radio therapy, I've every hope of being cured. I can't feel the lump, even now that I know it's there. I'm not ill. My only symptom is this dimple. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check yourself (males as well as females) and get your loved ones to check themselves also. If I can help one other person, the way I was helped, then it's been worth showing my soon-to-be-reduced left tit to the world xxx *************************************** I'm struggling to cope with all the messages and friend requests received as a result of this post.
