Women are using a bizarre 'toothpaste test' to determine if they are pregnant.
Google Trends shows that, despite the fact there is zero scientific evidence it works, searches for the term 'toothpaste pregnancy test' have been steadily on the rise for a number of years.
According to the website negativepregnancytest.com, the test appeals to women who are 'on a tight budget'.
The
site claims the test "involves placing a moderate amount of toothpaste on a plate or in a cup and then adding a few drops of the woman's urine to it."
If the woman in pregnant, the toothpaste apparently changes colour or begins to froth.
Our advice? If you think you may be pregnant, shell out for a pregnancy test in the pharmacy and keep the toothpaste for your teeth.
