A 21-year-old woman was devastated to mistake her leg rash as a result of shaving.
Rhiannon Douglas had a rash on her legs which quickly spread all over her legs and she then began to get pains in her back. She was rushed to A&E where they found that she had an 8.5cm mass growing in her chest.
Rhiannon was diagnosed with nodular sclerosis lymphoma which a rare type of Hodgkin lymphoma that develops in the lymphatic system.
Though the rash is a very rare symptom doctors have said if it didn't come up on her legs she may not have caught the cancer early enough to be treated.
"I couldn't believe that the rash on my legs was a rare sign of cancer, I had never heard or seen of this before so I was completely shocked when I found out.'' Rhiannon told Caters.
"At first I just thought the rash was caused by shaving, it made sense as it was my cousin's wedding a few days before and because I was wearing a dress I had shaved my legs.''
However, when the rash began to worsen she went to the hospital as she suspected meningitis.

She was misdiagnosed several times and had to wear lose fitting clothes and flip flops for months. She was finally diagnosed after 6 months, when she went to A&E.
Rhiannon said that she felt 'numb' when she got the news.
After her second scan, the tumour had shrunk to 7.5cm and she is hoping that it will continue to shrink without chemotherapy.

"After doing research online I found some articles that say a rash is a sign of cancer but it's not a very common one, some people may not know what to look out for.
"I would urge anyone to get themselves checked out if they are unsure of anything as you just never know what it might be.'' She said.
