A YouTuber who claimed that veganism “cured” her cancer has passed away.

Mari Lopez died in December when her breast cancer “came back,” spreading to her blood, liver, and lungs.

According to her niece, Liz, Mari had been “inconsistent” in her vegan lifestyle and that was why her aunt passed away.

The pair were known for sharing videos documenting their commitment to vegan diets, juice cleanses, and their faith in God.

In one video entitled ‘Cancer Transformation FAQ,’ Mari said that a lemon-ginger blast “… helped me remove inflammation from my body.”

The older woman admitted that she was undergoing a 90-day juice cleanse and had opted not to do chemotherapy as recommended by her doctors.

Liz shared a video this week titled ‘The truth about Mari – CANCER, JUICING, AND FAITH.’

In it, the younger woman said that when her aunt’s cancer came back, she chose not to continue her juice cleanse and instead underwent chemotherapy.

Liz also admitted that her aunt wanted her to remove the videos where the pair discuss the vegan diet sent from God that had “cured” her.

She said:

“My aunt initially wanted me to take down the videos because she was discouraged.

“Then later told me she wanted to be a missionary if she survived, further adding to my conviction that her videos could still help people.”

Liz also stated that she and Mari “never claimed” that their juice diet would “work for everyone.”

She will not be removing the videos as she believes they will continue to “help people.”

The comments for all of Liz and Mari’s past videos have since been disabled.

To reduce your risk of cancer, the HSE recommends enjoying a balanced diet, eating less than 18oz of red meat per week, and avoiding processed meats.
