Growing up Irish is a totally unique experience and there are quite a few laugh out loud moments when you think about it.

Where else in the world would you self-medicate with 7-Up instead of getting actual medication? Or where in the world would you manage to impress your future beau when you’re half cut in a club?

Only in Ireland… here are ten things that make us the unique gals that we are.

1. Potato love

Back in the day potatoes were the main playa on an Irish dinner plate and since then we’ve embraced them for all their gloriousness – so much so that our biggest theme park is even based around them.

All the love right here.

2. Insulting someone is a sign of endearment

Slagging each other off is just a thing us Irish do – there’s no better way to show affection than with a few insults. No other country even comes close.

No wonder we gravitate to other Irish when we move abroad, no one else could cope.

Our conversations are always colourful that’s for sure.

3. Introducing your family to the lad you shifted in Coppers

It was a random shift that somehow blossomed into true love… as much as we like to slag off coppers you can always guarantee an eventful night.

4. Fungie the dolphin

He’s one of our most famous residents and is the highlight of any holiday to Kerry.

Not quite as agile as these fellas but we can’t get enough of him.

What a legend.

5. A can of 7-Up when you’re sick

The cure for EVERY ailment…

6. The Eurovision

The Eurovision is entrenched in an Irish childhood and every august you were glued to the box trying to guess the scores. Unfortunately of late it seems to be all about the nil point for us.

 7. Everyone you meet wants to be Irish

Especially on St.Patrick’s Day.

There are probably more American’s prouder of their Irish heritage than we actually are. Obama even came to Ireland to celebrate his Irish roots

So we’re admired all over the world (if we do say so ourselves!), produced one of the most powerful men in the word and we’re known for having the craic. Not a bad legacy if you ask us.

8. Irish dancing

If you’re like us, you probably spent your weekends Irish dancing – perfecting the slip jig in your kitchen and adoring the short colourful dress you spun around in on Feis day.

Aon, dó, trí… aon, dó, trí.

9. Intense match days

Sport brings our small island together in a way nothing else can… we’re loyal to the bitter end.

10. Our unique sense of humour

Us Irish are known for our unique and wonderfully witty sense of humour. We LOVE nothing more than a bit of banter.

Supermac’s humorous approach to their well-known rivalry with an unnamed American multinational is absolutely gas. Supermac’s had us all in stitches when they included an upturned clown in a bin on the side of a van as part of their ongoing battle – #NeverMindThatClown .

We don’t like to miss an opportunity for playful banter, that’s for sure. Ah, only in Ireland.

Some restaurants claim to use Irish chicken but Supermac’s use 100% fresh Irish-reared chicken and beef in their meals. They’re committed to using 100% Irish chicken and beef that has never been frozen. They are on target to spend €7m on Irish chicken in 2017, supporting Irish poultry farmers.

Supermac’s 5oz beef burgers are made from prime cuts of beef and the fresh chicken product range in Supermac’s includes the Snack Box and Lunch Box, the Wholemeal Grilled Chicken Sandwich(only 350kcl), Chicken Breast Sandwich and the Fresh Chicken Tenders.

So you know you’re getting the very best Irish food every time.
