Third Wheel Syndrome
We know you’re just trying to be nice, but feeling like a gooseberry to every night out and cinema date can take its toll. You wouldn’t mind but you have a weird feeling that you’re both their child and chaperone – being minded and keeping them from eating face in public.
Singles Tables At Weddings
Welcome to the mismatch of friends who weren’t expected to find a date. You would give anything to have a plus one friend, but you’re sitting next to Aunt Mary. Who collects cats. Cheers for that.
The Awkward Set-Up
Remember the time your friend totally despaired at the idea of that now potential love interest asking her out? She’s now seeing past her personal veto to play cupid. And you’re having none of it.
Using Pet Names In Public
Pumpkin, Hunny, Cuddle Bear, Bae. We don’t want to hear it. Keep them to yourself. Ok, babes?
Snap Happy
As the single friend, prepare to take thirty million photos of the gorgeous couple. You wouldn’t mind, if she didn’t ask for it from another angle, with different poses, and don’t forget the arm prop.
Don’t even THINK of asking us to take a picture of you both kissing. *gag*
The Loss Of Conversation
Clearly the only thing you’ll ever get asked by friends and family is if there’s anyone new, if you’re seeing anyone, if there’s love in the air. Forget that you’ve got a new job, you’re rocking those college exams or sporting a new fringe. None of that matters.
The New Housemate
Living with a new couple? Expect to have an extra housemate at all times. Sure you don’t mind that he drinks all the milk, uses up the hot water and takes over the sitting room every night for movies and couch snuggles. Sure he’s paying rent too… oh, wait…
The (Non-Requested) Reassurance
When your friends all rush to give you the reassurance that you’ll find someone. When you never asked for it. Or even hinted you were sad and lonely. Eating ice-cream out of the tub is a legitimate hobby – not a cry for help.
*Honorary Mention*
The fact that you’re not invited out at all, because it’s a couples night and that could be really awkward for you. Almost as awkward as being told you’re not heading out with your friends because you have no significant other.Explore more on these topics:
